Gavin Starks is a serial entrepreneur, data governance expert, and climate advocate working at the intersection of data infrastructure, sustainability, and policy. He is the Founder and CEO of Icebreaker One, a public benefit nonprofit dedicated to enabling trusted, interoperable data sharing to support a net zero future. He also co-chairs IB1 Open Energy and serves as Executive Chair of Demand Logic, which applies predictive analytics to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions in commercial real estate. Earlier in his career, Starks served as founding CEO of the Open Data Institute, generating more than $100 million in impact, and founded AMEE, a platform that aggregated global carbon reporting standards. He has co-chaired the UK Smart Data Council and the Open Banking Standard, and served on the GLA Smart London Board and the Ministry of Justice Data, Science & Evidence Board. A University of Glasgow alumnus with degrees in Astronomy, Astrophysics, and Electronic Music, Starks brings a uniquely multidisciplinary perspective to building large-scale data systems that address today's most pressing social and environmental challenges.
