Don Davies

Don Davies, PE, SE, is a structural engineer and industry leader known for advancing sustainably driven design and low-carbon construction practices. He received his M.S. in Structural Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley (1990), and his B.S. in Civil Engineering from Washington State University (1987). Over the course of his career, he has contributed to the structural design of more than 180 high-rise projects in over 19 countries, with particular expertise in Performance-Based Design for tall buildings. Davies is widely recognized as a champion of embodied carbon reduction in the built environment. He is a founding member of the Carbon Leadership Forum and BuildingTransparency.org and a key contributor to the development of the Embodied Carbon in Construction Calculator (EC3), a widely adopted tool supporting transparency and carbon accountability in construction materials. Named a Senior Fellow of the Design Futures Council in 2020, Davies contributes expertise in structural innovation, performance-based engineering, and sustainable systems integration. He serves on the Advisory Board of the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat and continues to advocate for engineering solutions that advance resilience, performance, and climate responsibility in the global built environment.
